, watching romney tell those untruths, i believe he had to do some of that because the only thing paul ryan was doing was complementing what romney was doing, which was lying. so i believe biden had to interrupt because there were times when things ryan was saying did not make any sense. the 47%, they cannot clarify the that this really has hurt a lot of people by what they have said and they cannot live up to that. then president obama gets in office the first day and the republicans say we will do everything we can to make sure you are one-term president. how can you get things done when on your first day they refuse to help him? it's not like he can come across the aisle. they have already dropped him. americans need to wake up and see that this is just a thing where the republicans will make sure they say or do whatever they can to make sure obama is not elected. he has done things for the republican side of america as well as the democratic side. host: we will leave it there and move on to michael in columbus, georgia, on our mitt romney line. caller: house is going -- how is it going?

a short time ago we heard from mitt romney's running mate paul ryan saying we're going to bring america back to number one in manufacturing. that stuff resonates in a state like this. but more than anything else, what the effort is this weekend, it's the fifth consecutive day that mitt romney has in one form or another spent some time in the state of ohio as it shows just how critical they pugh view this state, with the 270 electoral votes. it's not impossible. but much more difficult to get there without this state. i spoke to a top adviser in the campaign this week who said to me if you go through the three most challenging states, three of the most critical states this done, florida, ohio, and virginia, they think they have the best shot at florida, second best at ohio, this adviser items me, and number three is virginia. but clearly, this is a state that no republican has won the white house without it. no president has won the white house since john f. kennedy. >> that surprises me. you would think that second maybe virginia and then ohio. i guess that speaks to how confident the c

and how the romney-ryan team will turn things around. what he has to be careful about is to make sure that whatever he says is going to be in sync with the top of the ticket because some of ryan's positions have been slightly refuted by mitt romney who has made it clear that he is at the top of the ticket and it is going to be his policies that will rule. for vice president biden, he has to whip up the enthusiasm. he also will be trying to make sure voters know that president obama has accomplished something in the past four years. he will try to spell it out just as he did at the democratic convention. and biden will have to be careful not to make one of his famous gaffs. >> he is a great debater on the senate floor but has been known to make a few boo boos for lack of a better word. >> reporter: well, certainly as reporters will be looking forward to whatever he has to say. attempt to balance the budget. and what ryan and romney are calling is outrageously stupid. what the president is doing is inadequate. >> okay. al? >> good description. nothing partisan about that description. you know, al, the governor brings up a point. i'm not sure that i agree with how he describes the two sides, but i will say that when joe biden -- let's just take these two issues right here. to talk about the stupidity of this campaign. joe biden won't even talk about raising entitlement -- your date of eligibility for entitlements one year despite the fact when fdr set the life expectancy at 62, we're now up, 79, 80, something like that. and you've got three people working for every one person getting these entitlements. and then on the republican side, this $5 trillion tax cut, the numbers don't add up. it doesn't matter what you do. the numbers don't add up. nor does the administration's belief that if you just tax rich guys, you're going to take care of the deficit. it's just -- it's nonsense. >> joe, you're absolutely right. neither side is seriously addressing this.
